Most cameras in most installations don't need to be flagships. The Q and A series are Hanwha's value tiers, and specifying them correctly is how a design stays on budget without giving up reliability.
Q series — the everyday workhorse
The Q series targets small-to-mid-size applications and is one of Hanwha's most widely deployed ranges. It offers sharp imaging with efficient H.265 compression, intelligent video analytics, Wide Dynamic Range, built-in IR for low light, hallway view for tall narrow spaces, and WiseStream II bandwidth reduction. Available in dome, bullet, and box form factors at 2MP and 4MP resolutions, the Q series covers retail, banking, and office environments well — solid imaging and useful analytics at a sensible price.
A series — cost-effective essentials
The A series is Hanwha's budget tier: camera and NVR solutions equipped with the core functionality security professionals require, without the premium features. For general-purpose coverage where the scene is well-lit and the requirement is simply dependable recording, the A series keeps per-camera cost down so the budget can be concentrated on the critical positions.
Designing with tiers
A strong design mixes tiers deliberately: X series on the scenes that demand identification, Q series across general coverage, and A series where the requirement is basic. That approach maximizes value — spending where it changes outcomes and economizing where it doesn't.
Why it matters
The fastest way to blow a camera budget is treating every position as critical. The Q and A series let PDI cover a site thoroughly and affordably, reserving flagship hardware for the handful of scenes that truly need it.
